The funding of the studentship is for home fee (￡3,450 in 2009/10) and for subsistence at the EPSRC rate (￡13,290 for 2009/10). The overseas candidate has to meet the difference between home and overseas fees from his/her own resources.

The minimal English requirement for the overseas candidate is:
IELTS: Overall 6.5, writing 6.0 Or
TOEFL: 560 or above.

If possible, the candidate would be expected to be an MSc student (or at least a registered MSc student) with appropriate trainings in microbiology and molecular biology. The project will be involved in the identification of halogenated natural products and related genes/gene clusters/protein chemistry in actinomycetes from high-salinity environments.
